The storm ate one mile off east end of Horn Island, swallowing lighthouse and drowning keeper. 1916 a cat 2 july 5th hits the area for 16hrs killing 10 1926 a minimal hurricane weakening to Tropical storm reached Gulfport with a calm eye for 10 min press 29.08 1947 sept 19th a hurricane just south cat 2 brings a 12 ft storm surge kills 22 on gulf coast. Newspaper article 1969 camille aug 17th,just west as a cat 5 190mph press 26.85 ,major damage with a 22 ft storm surge in this area. kills 137 along the coast .
