This areas hurricane past 1903 Category 1 from the ESE Sept 12th 1906 Oct 18th Category 2 from the SSW 1926 methodist church
was totally destroyed c.b.s construction as well as many other buildings by
110mph winds.Most of newly built hollywood buildings badly damaged.Newspaper headline 1945 Sept 16th a major 130mph hurricane passes just west of here while moving NNW 1947 a cat 4 with 120mph winds gusts to 150mph destroyed the area,area had an 11ft storm surge,sept 17th. weather map same year
1947 a cat 1 hits from the s.w gusts to 85mph oct 12 1949 a hurricane to north in palm bch county with winds over 130mph hurricane force sustained here in cat 1 range 1950 hurricane king hits as a cat 2 moderate
damage,but heavier in west hollywood as the severe damage was in only a 10 mile wide swath 25 people hospitalized 125 homes heavily damaged,west hollywood was hit hard by a tornado. 1964 aug 27th hurricane Cleo 95mph just west causes moderate damage here. Hit west hollywood & west of Ft Laud 6:30AM. Broward county $89,000,000 damage 1981 Tropical storm Dennis with 50mph winds dumps heavy rain & causes power outages in Broward audio news report(rp) 1992 hurricane andrew 30 miles to south hollywood gusts over 90mph

2005,Oct 24th , Hurricane Wilma comes in just NW of here with 105mph winds from the SW. Moving very quickly NE at 25mph heavy rainbands on the east quadrant of WIlma gusting to 110mph causes significant damage in eastern Broward county.Hollywood reports 30 structures with heavy damage affecting 120 units.
