1909 In june a cat hits from the east
1909 a tropical storm hit here dumping heavy rain & kills 41 in texas in july 1910 area is totally under water from a hurricane 1916 932mb 130mph at landfall cat4. 1933 sept 4-5th winds est at 80mph & 17 million dollars damage. 1967
hurricane Beulah hits just south with 130mph winds this area got over 100mph
winds & heavy damage from flooding & tornadoes 1980 hurricane Allen
hits just south with 110mph winds moderate damage here mostly from flooding.
In 1999 aug 22nd Hurricane Bret hits north end with 125mph winds.caused 12 new cuts on islands.
2008 July 23rd Hurricane Dolly hits south Padre Island with 85mph winds . Most wind damage caused by S.W & West winds up to 80mph. Roof damage broken glass & signs on Padre Island. Storm surges of up to 4 feet were observed at South Padre Island, Port Mansfield, and the Port of Brownsville, Texas. Water flowed eastward from the Laguna Madre, inundating the bay side of South Padre Island with 3 to 4 feet of water.
